Taking out the trash before we leave for six weeks and the sky is full of clouds. Travel Tip: Clean out fridge and always take out trash before you leave on a trip. If you skip either step it won't be pretty. I'm not saying we learned this from our last 6 week trip....but I'm not saying it smelled like roses when we got home.

2 hours early, 5 min to get through Security

The SLC airport D gates kind of suck because they are a hike to get to. Especially when the auto walk ways aren't working. (Said with Teresa's whine voice) First world problems.

Everything we need for a Six week trip including a month of performances in Edinburgh. To put this in perspective that is clothes for 1 week in warming Portland, Oregon, 1 week in super hot New York City & 4 weeks in rainy Scotland WITH fancy shoes and show clothes. We love the Eddie Bauer back pack that is light weight and folds into a super small bag. Travel Tip: lightweight folding backpacks work great because they are a lot easier to carry and use then big bulky "school" back packs.

I love when we fly with guaranteed seats instead of "Stand By". (We usually fly standby)

We were still the last ones on the plane though, even though we were the first to the gate. Travel Tip 1) When you know you are going to gate check your bag, or don't have a large carry on. Get on last. You don't have to stand in line and shove, you don't have to get banged on the head by backpacks or sweaty old man elbows, and unless your on Southwest you don't get a better seat on the plane or leave any sooner than the first person on the plane. Travel Tip 2) When offered gate check for your bags we usually say yes. (The only no is if I have a tight connection to make once we land.) It's like valet for your luggage, the gate agent should get your bag on the correct plane, it's generally the last bags on so usually the first bags off the plane. This means it is usually the first bags to bag claim. Plus you don't have to carry your bags through the airport like a regular scmuck. Just pick them up at baggage claim and walk right out the exit doors to a cab, bus, train, car, Uber, truck or van. That is the fancy life. No waiting in lines or lifting heavy things for us.
